1 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp of freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp of sugar
Directions

In a medium saucepan, combine all the marinade ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
To make the steak, follow these steps:
Place the steak pieces in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag and toss to coat the meat well. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours or up to 24 hours, turning the bag occasionally.
When ready to cook, heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and olive oil and swirl to coat the pan.
Add the onion and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and sugar and transfer to a plate.
In the same skillet, cook the steak pieces in batches for about 4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your liking. Transfer to a platter and keep warm.
Serve your steak tips with the caramelized onions and your choice of sides. Enjoy!
