First announced with a pilot order in August 2012, Nickelodeon picked up the pilot to series in November. Production began on a 20-episode order in January 2013. Following high ratings in its initial episodes, Nickelodeon doubled the episode order to 40 in July.[1] In March 2014, Nickelodeon executive told advertisers that the series had been renewed for a second season.[2][3]

Production began in January 2013,[75] and on June 8, 2013, Sam & Cat premiered in the United States. Several weeks later, on July 11, Nickelodeon doubled the season one order of 20 episodes, to 40.[1] Filming was scheduled to resume in early September 2013 to finish the second half of the first season.[1]
At the Nickelodeon upfront meeting with advertisers on March 13, 2014, Nickelodeon programming president Russell Hicks stated that Sam & Cat had been renewed for a second season,[2] and Adweek reported that an additional 20 episodes were ordered.[3] However, other Nickelodeon sources stated that an official decision was yet to be made on whether the show would be renewed.
On April 2, Deadline Hollywood reported that behind-the scenes issues had derailed the network's plan for a second season. In addition, it was reported that both actresses felt "constricted" and were ready to move on from the network. While Nickelodeon attributed the hiatus to the large episode order, Deadline provided an update the following day that the crew had been let go.[4] While Deadline reported that McCurdy and Grande were getting along fine, other outlets began reporting that Nickelodeon had paid Grande more than McCurdy, which was denied by Grande.[5][81]
Sam & Cat is a television show on Nickelodeon that premiered on June 8, 2013, in the USA[1] and ended on July 17, 2014. Forty episodes had been ordered for its first season, which began production in January 2013.[2] Production for the first half of Season 1 ended July 26, 2013.[3] The second part of production ended early due to the show being cancelled, therefore, stopping at 35 episodes total. The pilot episode reintroduces Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande) as they become roommates and start a babysitting business to fund their adventures. Some characters from their original shows iCarly and Victorious guest-starred on episodes. Every episode title began with a hashtag (#).

Salt Lake City, Utah - The Sacramento River Cats (6-5) picked up a 2-1 victory in a pitcher's duel over the Salt Lake Bees (3-7) Sunday afternoon. Lefty Andrew Suárez turned in a fantastic outing to earn his first win of the year.Suarez was cruising through six innings before running into trouble in the seventh. He found himself in a jam with one out and runners on second and third, but right-hander Ray Black came in to get the final two outs of the frame and preserve the shutout for the time being. The 6.1 inning outing by Suarez was the longest by a River Cats starter this season. Sam Coonrod picked up his second save of the season, striking out a trio of Bees hitters to slam the door in the ninth.On the other side of the ball Abiatal Avelino reached base three times and scored the River Cats' only two runs. Zach Green continued his torrid start to the season, collecting two more hits and improving his average to .361. Catcher Ronnie Freeman added two hits of his own in his River Cats season debut.The River Cats take the field again tomorrow afternoon as right-hander Tyler Beede (0-1, 1.17) toes the rubber. Beede will look to continue his solid start to the 2019 season. The Bees will throw lefty Greg Mahle (0-1, 3.60). First pitch is set for 11:05 a.m. (PT).
